Looking forward to celebrating Singapore’s 58th birthday? Here are some ways you and the family can have some fun on National Day 2023!

#1 Catch the fireworks

If you’re up for a night in town, book a restaurant around the Marina Bay area and treat the family to a delicious meal alongside amazing views of the NDP 2023 fireworks. And if you’re not, pop out to one of the five heartland locations — Jurong West Stadium, Woodlands Stadium, Bedok Stadium, Our Tampines Hub and Toa Payoh Stadium — or the areas surrounding them, for a gorgeous show closer to home.

#2 Get active at NDP carnivals

No need to fret about celebrating on a weeknight! National Day celebrations this year start as early as the weekend before, with GetActive Singapore Heartland Festivals held at Bedok, Jurong West, Toa Payoh, Woodlands and Tampines. This year’s carnivals encourage the family to get active with  sports such as archery, skateboarding, roller-skating and more. One big highlight? The Giant Eraser Battle, where you flip an eraser to pin down your opponent’s — just like in your childhood days, but this time, with a larger-than-life eraser!

#3 A historical hunt across the island

No better time to brush up on your Singapore history than on the 58th National Day! Grab the family to visit historical sites across the island, such as Fort Canning, the Kranji War Memorials, Sultan Mosque or Thian Hock Keng Temple. To make it extra educational (while still fun), make a game out of it and have each person take turns to play tour guide to introduce the rest to the location and its history.

#4 A walk through museum memory lane

Take a trip down to the National Museum to check out temporary exhibitions such as Semangat yang Baru: Forging a New Singapore Spirit to learn more about the essence of the Singapore spirit, or Growing Up to understand life in Singapore’s early years. The best part? It’s air-conditioned so you’re safe from both the rain and sun.

#5 Treat yourself to touristy things

Always wanted to ride a trishaw? Take the boat down the Singapore River? Or hop on the flyer? Celebrate National Day 2023 by letting loose a little and trying some touristy things! Don’t forget to stop for your favourite hawker dishes when you’re done — after all, Singapore’s food culture is one of the best things about visiting the island!

#6 A red and white party

Party it up at home while watching the NDP 2023 parade! Rally the whole family to dress in red and white, and get creative with the menu to create dishes that are red and white as well. You can even create your own National Day games, like hangman or charades with words based on Singapore themes.
