If you’re worrying about how to keep the kids busy during the upcoming school holidays, look no further! Whether it’s indoor activities to beat the heat, or getting some fun under the sun, we’ve rounded up some interesting activities you can fill up your June holiday calendar with!

Get ready for a memorable school holiday with these activities that are suitable for family members of all ages!

1. Walk through Sentosa Sensoryscape

Launched earlier this year, this 350m boardwalk hosts 6 different zones that lets your little ones get up close and personal with plants. Engage with the 5 senses here, plus a “sixth sense” that represents imagination.

If you come here at night, you’ll be treated to impressive light projections. If your kids are up for it, use the ImagiNite app on your smartphone to discover augmented reality light projections of fauna, marine life and butterflies.

2. Stay cool with an ice-cream making session

With the heat becoming unbearable, cool off with the kids by learning how to make their favourite treat! There are various ice-cream making workshops all over the island for you to get the full scoop on making ice-cream from scratch.

If you prefer to stay home, there are lots of kid-friendly ice-cream or sorbet recipes online you can use for an ice-cream making party at home. Choose recipes that are lower in sugar, or packed with superfoods like berries and spinach for a guilt-free treat everyone can enjoy together!

3. Organise an arts & crafts day

Tap into your kiddos’ creative brain and let them create their own masterpiece. Letting the little ones draw, paint, craft, and create are great ways to develop their artistic side and creative thinking.

Having an arts & crafts day is also a great opportunity to upcycle materials at home that would otherwise be thrown away. You can turn newspapers into papier-mâché sculptures, plastic egg cartons into butterflies, or cardboard boxes into monster puppets. The possibilities are endless!

4. Learn about marine life & conservation

In case you haven’t heard, the Central Public Library on Victoria Street has been revamped with a refreshed interior, bigger reading spaces, and a wider selection of books. The shining jewel is the Children’s Biodiversity Library, a marine-biodiversity themed learning space where your little ones are treated to floor-to-ceiling displays, as well as interactive kiosks to learn about life under the sea.

There are also sessions like intertidal animal art, upcycling workshops and storytelling sessions with volunteers and members of the public trained in marine biology for your sea-loving little ones to know more about our oceans and what they can do to keep it healthy and blue for years to come.

5. Have a day out to National Family Festival (NFF)

Back again for the third year, National Family Festival (previously National Family Week) is coming your way! At the Festival, everyone in the family can be treated to a variety of meaningful and fun activities to spend time together and form strong family bonds.

Family members of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy a wide range of activities and programmes from art workshops to inter-family games. Parents and grandparents can also pick up useful family-building tips from parenting talks and events.

The Festival will take place from 25 May to 23 June 2024 at various heartland locations over Singapore. Remember to mark your calendar to have fun at one of the biggest family-oriented events!
