FFLC 2019 FAQs

1. What is the event about?

Families for Life Celebrations 2019 is back for the fourth time and this time, instead of the civil district, we’re bringing families to SAFRA Punggol on 29th June 2019 (Saturday)!

Themed ‘Family Time’ #IChooseFamilyTime, Families for Life Celebrations is a great opportunity for families to make every family moment count – including extended families (aunties & uncles / cousins / nieces & nephews). There are many things that require your attention, but it is about making a conscious decision to prioritise quality time spent with your loved ones.

2. Where is the event held? How do we get there?

Families for Life Celebration 2019 is held at the SAFRA Punggol. Please refer to below on how to get to SAFRA Punggol:

Nearest Bus Stop - Bus 382 (From Punggol Bus Interchange)
Nearest MRT station - Punggol MRT (NE17)
Nearest LRT station – Sam Kee Station (PW1)

Registration

3. Who is eligible to register for the event?

Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents residing in Singapore can register for the event. The main registrant should be at least 18 years of age.

4. Do I need to pay for registration?

Some activities within the event requires registration fee. Please refer to the table below:

*All fees are inclusive of GST
Payment can be made by VISA or Master Card through the online payment portal which you will be directed to after you have duly completed your registration.

5. Is there any limit in terms of the number of family members that I can bring along?

We encourage multi-generation and extended families (aunties & uncles / cousins / nieces & nephews) to join us for the event! There is no limit on the number of family members you can bring to the event, except for some activities, due to space constraint and safety concerns. You can register up to 5 more family members in your registration. If you have more than 6 members including yourself, do create a separate registration.

6. Can I register on behalf of someone else?

Please register for your own family only as we would require registrants to acknowledge the terms and conditions before making payment.

7. How will I know if my registration has been successful?

Participants will receive a confirmation email upon successful registration.

8. Why is it that I have not received my confirmation email despite registering and making payment?

There could be a few reasons why a participant has not received his/her confirmation email:
• The email has been blocked by the mail server and/or is treated as spam/junk mail. Do check your spam/junk mail.
• The first would be that his/her registration was not successful and therefore the confirmation email was not rendered.
• There could have been an error in his/her email at the point of registration so the confirmation email was not sent to the correct email.

9. If my email was being directed to my junk mail and was deleted before I can retrieve it, where can I retrieve my confirmation email?

You can retrieve your confirmation email via the official event website.

10. If I have done of all of the above mentioned but I am still unable to find my confirmation email, what else can I do?

In such cases, the participant can send an email to spevents@safra.sg with the following details:
a. Participant’s Name
b. Last 5 digit of your NRIC
c. Participant’s Contact Number

11. Do I get a refund if I choose not to participate after registration?

All registrations are strictly non-refundable.

12. Can I transfer my registration if I wish to withdraw from the activity?

All registrations are strictly non-transferrable.

13. What do I have to bring before I am able to board the bus?

Please present your confirmation email on your mobile to the bus captain before you are allowed to board the bus. Also, due to limited seating capacity, please note that you are only allowed to board the bus from the SAFRA clubhouses indicated in your confirmation slip.

14. What time do I have to report to the pick-up location?

Please arrive 15 minutes before your indicated pick-up time as the buses will leave promptly. Late comers will not be entertained and do note that there will be strictly no refund for due to no-show/cancellation.

Family Fun Walk

15. What time should we be at the event?

Gather at the start pen at the park connector in front of SAFRA Punggol at 4.30pm (evening session). You can enter the start pen via the Punggol Waterway Park Event Lawn. Please wear comfortable attire and bring along your own water bottles to keep yourself hydrated by refueling at the water points found along the route.

Last entry for each session is 1 hour after the flag off, participants who come later than that will not be able to participate in the Family Fun Walk.

16. Will I get my event timing for completing the walk?

There will be no event timing for the Family Fun Walk.

17. Will I get a completion medal if I did not complete the route?

Completion medal will only be given to all who complete the route with a participant bib.

18. What is the total distance of the Family Fun walk?

The Family Fun Walk will be a 5km walk along Punggol Waterway.

19. Can my family and I choose to walk a shorter route?

Yes, Families can choose to walk the 3km route instead. There will be a U-turn point at Wave Bridge which is at the 1.5km mark.

20. Is there a cut-off time to participate in the Family Fun Walk?

Yes, we will only accept entry until 6.00pm (1 hour after the first flag-off time)

21. Is there a baggage deposit at the start point?

There will be no baggage deposit.

22. Can I skate or cycle or roller-blade during the event?

Safety is important to give everyone a nice experience at the event. As such, no skating, cycling and roller-blading are allowed during the Fun Walk.

23. Will I be allowed to bring strollers/wheelchair?

Yes, you are allowed to bring strollers or wheelchair. However, for safety reasons please join only the last wave.

24. Will there be an official photographer?

Yes. Photography and/or videography will be taken during the event for news and publicity purposes by the official photographer and/or videographer, and may be used for print and on online/electronic platforms of Families for Life Celebrations 2019. Families for Life Celebrations 2019 owns all rights to the photographs and video recordings. If you do not wish to have any photographs or video recordings taken of you, please inform our staff at the information counter at the event lawn.

25. What if I am injured during the Event or otherwise unable to finish the Event?

Please approach the nearest first aiders along the route. Participants who require immediate medical attention may alert the route marshals along the route.

26. Will there be hydration points along the way?

Yes, there will be 2 hydration points along the route.

27. Is there any wet weather plan?

Yes. We will keep the participants informed of the status of the Family Fun Walk should the walk be delayed or cancelled due to wet weather.

28. When and where can I get the Fun Pack for the Family Fun Walk?

Family Fun Walk Fun Pack Collection will be at held on 22nd and 23rd June 2019, Saturday and Sunday at SAFRA Punggol and SAFRA Toa Payoh respectively. Please refer to below for the exact details:

29. Can I still collect my Fun Pack after the collection has ended?

There will be no more collection after the designated collection dates.

30. What do I need to bring to collect my Fun Pack?

Please present your confirmation email or NRIC/passport to collect your Fun Pack.

31. If I am unable to collect my Fun Pack during the designated period, can I authorise a representative to collect on my behalf?

Yes. You can authorise a representative to collect your Fun Pack on your behalf. The following documents must be presented when the representative is collecting the Fun Pack:

Kite Making Workshop

32. What time should we be at the event?

Registration starts 30 minutes before each session. Please be there on time to fully benefit and enjoy the workshop.

33. How many kites are there for each registration?

Each registered adult and child pair will be given 1 kite.

34. Will I be able to fly the kite after making the kite?

Yes, there will time for you to fly the kite that you have made with your family. Facilitators will be there to help as well. Please note that kite flying will only be allowed till 4pm.

35. Can we bring our own materials to design the kite?

Yes, you can! Just make sure that there aren’t too many things on the kite so that it can still fly!

Family Canvas Art

36. What is this activity about?

Each registered family is given 1 canvas (24” X 24”). Enjoy a creative bonding time with your family and create an art piece that portrays your family at its best!

37. What time should we be at the event?

Registration starts 30 minutes before each session. Please be there on time to fully benefit and enjoy the workshop.

38. Can we bring our own coloring materials?

Each family are only allowed to use the materials provided.

39. Can we bring home our completed canvas?

Yes, you can!

Family Bowling Challenge

40. What time should we be at the event?

Registration starts 30 minutes before each session. Last entrant cut off at registered time slot sharp.

41. Are shoes and socks provided?

Shoes rental are complimentary and socks are chargeable at $1.90 per pair. Bowlers are advised to bring their own socks.

42. How many people can we have in each lane?

Each lane can accommodate 4 to 6 bowlers. Any bowlers found without the wrist tag which is issued at registration will not be allowed to bowl. Organiser reserves the rights to lane assignment. Family Fun @ Splash (Kidz Amaze)

43. What time should we be at the event?

Registration starts 30 minutes before each session. A grace period of 15 mins will be allowed for late comers. There will be no more entry for the session after the grace period.

Sushi-Making Workshop

44. What time should we be at the event?

Registration starts 30 minutes before each session. Last entrant cut off at registered time slot sharp.

45. Are the ingredients halal-certified?

No the ingredients used during the workshop are not halal.

46. Can I participate in the workshop if I am a vegetarian?

Yes, you can!

47. What will we be doing in this workshop?

For this workshop, each family will be doing a mixture of nigiri and maki sushi. The chef will be conducting hygiene briefing, followed by demonstration on how to create the sushi.

Evening Picnic and Movie Screening

48. What time should we be at the event?

Picnic will begin at 5.00pm onwards. We encourage families to be early and get a good spot for the picnic and movie! Movie screening will start at 7.00pm.

49. What happens if it rains heavily or there is a bad haze on the event day?

Should the event be cancelled due to bad weather/haze, participants will be notified by the Organisers via updates on the Families for Life Facebook page at www.facebook.com/familiesforlife.sg

50. Do I need to pay for the snacks and drinks from the FFL Mobile Café?

These are provided complimentary, while stocks last. Please present your passport to redeem snacks. 

51. Will there be any sale of food and drinks at the event?

Yes, there will are food and beverage outlets available at SAFRA Punggol. Families are also encouraged to bring your own food and drinks to create a unique picnic experience! Do bring along your own water bottles to keep yourself hydrated at the water points.

52. Can I bring a chair/beach chair/stool/table for the picnic?

Safety is important to give everyone a nice experience at the event. As such, no foldable tables, chairs, or stools are allowed on the picnic grounds.

53. Can I bring a small tent or small canopy structure to provide shade?

No tents or other structures with canopies are allowed on the grounds as these might obstruct other families.

54. Are there toilets at the event?

There are portable toilet facilities located at the Event Lawn and also in SAFRA Punggol.

55. Is there wheelchair access?

Yes, kindly approach the working crew for directions.
