The first couple of weeks after your last period are the golden time for fertilisation. Here's why.

What's happening to you?

When menstruation ends, your eggs are still ripening in fluid-filled sacs called follicles, located in your ovaries. Hormones are released to help the follicles (each containing one egg) mature faster. Your body usually releases one egg a month, usually on day 14 of your cycle. This is known as ovulation.

You can start to help your body prepare for a healthy pregnancy by giving up habits like smoking or excessive drinking. Get plenty of rest and find ways to de-stress through exercise and hobbies you enjoy.
