What's happening to your baby?

Your jackfruit-sized baby has a fully developed brain and nervous system by now. The lungs are almost fully developed, too. Baby is about 41 to 51cm long and weighs between 2.15 and 2.65kg. It's almost time to make an appearance!

What's happening to you?

At this stage, you'll be seeing your doctor every week until you give birth. You'll also be tested for vaginal carriage of Group B Streptococcus (GBS) soon — this is a vaginal swab test that shouldn't hurt. GBS is a common bacteria that's not harmful to you, but could cause complications like pneumonia or meningitis in your baby. Up to three in 10 women test positive and you'll be given prophylactic antibiotics in labour to reduce the risk of infection to your baby. Meanwhile, take it easy. It's time to rest up and stay positive — you're on the home stretch now!
