With so much hype about attractions at Orchard Road and the Marina Bay Sands area, Woodlands is probably not the first place that comes to mind when you think about a fun place for a family outing.
But the suburban neighbourhood in the north, named after the rubber plantations that once populated the area, actually holds a few gems that are perfect for the whole family and make it worth going the distance for!
1.Zoom down the slides at Admiralty Park

With 26 slides—the most that any single park in Singapore has, Admiralty Park is a must-go for families with active kids. There are three main play areas catering to children of all ages, and in the name of inclusivity, these spaces are equipped with features suitable for those on wheelchairs and for the elderly. Besides the variety, Admiralty Park is also where you’ll find the widest and longest slide in the country!
2.Admire the Johor skyline at Woodlands Waterfront Park

If you’re looking for a change of scenery, take the family for a stroll along the Woodlands Waterfront Park Jetty. At just 400m long, the jetty offers a relaxing walk with scenic views of the Johor skyline—best enjoyed at sunrise or sunset. Those feeling a little more athletic can opt for around the longer 11-hectare trail just behind the jetty, and be rewarded with gorgeous, panoramic views of the Straits of Johor from a higher vantage point.
3.Roam with the dinosaurs at Fu Shan Garden Park

Calling all dinosaur lovers! Here’s your chance to slide down the tails of your favourite dinosaurs, ride atop their heads, and pick up some bite-sized facts about your favourite prehistoric reptiles at the dinosaur park in the north. Crawl through the tunnels beneath them and let your imagination run wild! Best part? This dinosaur park is far less crowded than the latest dinosaur exhibit at the Jurassic Mile!
4.Savour both food and heritage at Beaulieu House

Treat yourself to a bit of history alongside a good meal at Beaulieu House. Beaulieu House, once owned by a British engineer, has roots that trace back to before the naval base was built. It was awarded conservation status in 2005, and today, lives on as a restaurant, known for its elegant colonial décor, with a mix of western and Chinese food at reasonable prices.
5.Dinner with a view at Rasa Istimewa Restaurant

Rasa Istimewa Restaurant might have other outlets in Jurong and Pasir Ris, but the Woodlands Waterfront Park outlet is arguably cut above the rest because of its relaxing sea view. So wrap up an afternoon at the Woodlands Waterfront Park with a delicious meal of some halal zi char and barbecued seafood!
Rasa Istimewa Waterfront Restaurant is open from Monday to Sunday, 12pm to 11.30pm.
6.Shop for seafood at Senoko Fishery Port

With the pandemic raging on, you might not be down for a trip to Tsukiji Fish Market anytime soon. But if you’re willing to wake up in the wee hours of the morning, our very own Senoko Fishery Port is a good second! There are over 30 stalls to choose from, offering not just freshly caught fish, but also zi char favourites like stingray, sotong, and mud crabs—all at wholesale prices. Do note though, you’ll need to bring your NRIC or passport, and if you plan to buy anything, it’s a minimum of 2kg per order and cash-only!
