The Army Museum of Singapore (ARMS) is an interactive museum dedicated to sharing the history and evolution of Singapore’s Army. There are indoor galleries as well as an outdoor play zone for kids and exhibits of real Army vehicles and equipments.

The Galleries

Learn about how Singapore’s army has developed since the 1960’s through a series of permanent exhibitions in the air-conditioned indoor galleries. You get to see not only how Singapore’s National Service has evolved, but also gain an insight into the humanitarian missions which the Singapore Army has undertaken overseas.

A mock-up of an old-style Barracks is a fun picture opportunity. Most children are intimidated by how neat the Barracks need to be!

Simulation Air Rifle Range

The highlight for many kids is the simulation air rifle range. Here you get to shoot an M16 or SAR23 air rifle. You are presented with a large screen and “targets” to shoot at. A final score gets shown as well.

4D Movie

Don’t miss the 4D movie in the indoor theatre. It features a day in the life of a soldier and shows him going through a combat mission. Not only are there lights and realistic sounds, there is also the smell and feel of gun smoke to make the movie more realistic. You may need to be a little careful with young children as the movie’s sound effects are very loud.

Outdoor Obstacle Course

There is an outdoor Adventure Park with 11 obstacles which have been scaled down for children under 14 years of age. It is modelled after the Standard Obstacle Course in the Army and is just the thing to help your kids work off some energy.

Vehicles and Equipment

Don’t forget to spend some time exploring the many military vehicles and the equipment that are just outside the museum. Some to see are the Land Rover ambulance, M68 Gun Howitzer, 2 AMX10Ps and various other trucks and tanks.

Guided Tours and Admission

Admission is free for Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents. Guided tours are also available, although it is best to book these at least 7 days in advance. The museum is open from 10am to 6pm daily except on Mondays.
