Celebrating the Ties that Bind

Families For Life’s annual ‘Celebrating Our Grands’ on Saturday, 9 October 2021 celebrates the strong bonds between multiple generations of the family. Celebrated a day after Children’s Day, the nation-wide celebration hopes to inculcate important family values of ‘Love’, ‘Care & Concern’, ‘Commitment’ and ‘Respect’ in our young and encourage them to show appreciation for their grandparents or elderly extended family members (such as grandaunts or granduncles) in each of their unique ways.

Cherish the special bond with your grands and let them know how much they mean to you! Enjoy more heartwarming comic strips about the precious moments of Family Time here and share them with your loved ones!

Get Creative with Ah Gong & Ah Ma

Get Creative with Ah Gong and Ah Ma

In conjunction with Celebrating Our Grands on 9 October 2021, I Feel Young SG and Families for Life jointly present "Get Creative with Ah Gong & Ah Ma", a short-video competition to celebrate intergenerational bonding between seniors and youth.

Celebrate the spirit of being young at heart and enjoy a time of intergenerational bonding by joining the contest! From performing goofy lip syncs to dancing in matching outfits, get creative with an original routine or recreate memes and capture those merry moments on video.

The benefits of intergenerational bonding extend both ways: Grands and seniors can be mentors, with a wealth of experiences, share their stories and values. While Grandchildren and youth, with their energy, keep their seniors young at heart and also experiment new technology trends with them.

Fun and meaningful activities build intergenerational relationships and strengthen family bonds. We hope this contest will not only help to bridge generational gaps, but also enhance mutual understanding between young and old. If you're a senior, take this opportunity to have fun and enjoy some quality family time. If you're a youth, show appreciation to your Grands for their contributions to your family and our nation!

How to Participate:

Contest runs from now till 29 October 2021 and is open to all residents in Singapore. Winners will be announced on Friday, 12 November 2021 on the I Feel Young SG page. For more details, visit go.gov.sg/getcreative. T&Cs apply.
