Families For Life | National Day themed activities for the whole family!

It’s that time of the year again! As National Day approaches, it’s time to bring out the red-and-white outfits, display the national flag, and start playing National Day songs at home! This year, Singapore is going all out to celebrate its 60th birthday. Join in the fun with your family and seize the chance to enjoy some family bonding! Here are some ideas to help you make the most of this year’s National Day.

#1 Fly the flag as a family tradition!

Let’s start by creating an annual family tradition of hanging the Singapore flag outside your home together! This simple act can be a great bonding opportunity for the family. Parents can use the time to explain the symbolic meaning of the flag and talk about what it means to celebrate National Day. You can consider creating a playlist of your family’s favourite National Day songs and bringing out some classic Singapore snacks as you hang up the flag together!

#2 Catch the NDP live on the big LED!

Couldn’t get tickets? Don’t worry, you can catch live screenings of the National Day Parade (NDP) from 5:30pm on 2 and 9 Aug 2025 at three locations: Merlion Park, Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza, and the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre.

This year’s NDP show will also extend from the Padang to the rest of the Bay. Don’t miss out on the building light projections at the UOB Building Plaza 1 and Fullerton Hotel as well as the fireworks! It’ll be a night to remember with your family!

#3 Go all out at partner celebration sites

NTUC, SAFRA, Gardens by the Bay, PUB and KASM are throwing their own National Day party! Each partner site offers unique programmes to complement the NDP screening alongside free NDP packs for registered attendees.

From light snacks to fringe activities like AI photo booths and game booths, there’s plenty to do with your family! Round out a fun night of activities with a great view of the fireworks. At the end of the celebrations, don’t forget to share your favourite part of the night!

#4 Participate in activities at the Bay

On 2 and 9 August this year, you and your family can participate in interactive booths and activities along the Marina Bay waterfront! The Bay Discovery Trail is divided into three zones themed around multiculturalism, inclusivity, and heritage. Explore the zones with your family and try crafty activities like traditional fan painting and ketupat keychain making!

If you are one of the first 5,000 participants to complete a Discovery Trail stamp card, you can also redeem a free NDP pack! If you’re eager for more family time, you can catch the Uncle Ringo carnival from 25 July where you can enjoy games and rides for all ages. Check out the full list of activities and when they’ll be available here.

#5 Don’t miss the after-party

The fun’s not over after 9 August! Look out for National Day festivities around our heartlands for more opportunities to bond with your family. While the full details haven’t been released yet, you can expect a showcase from SAF and the Home Team assets, along with fireworks, drone shows, and family carnival activities! So, keep an eye out for more details and start making plans for a day out together.

As Singapore goes all out for its 60th birthday, it’s also your chance to make unforgettable memories. Let’s eat, laugh, and celebrate another milestone for our nation with our families!
